Well, it’s probably more baking than cooking, but…
Check out our book displays this month! We have a picture book Cook Up a Good Book! display on the shelves under the window in the Children’s area, with beautiful art by Karen. Some of our favorite food stories are there: Mr. Cookie Baker by Monica Wellington, Fannie in the Kitchen by Deborah Hopkinson and Cookie Store Cat by Cynthia Rylant!
On top of the juvenile paperbacks, we have some fun reads for fourth through sixth graders that feature cooking. Books like The Teashop Girls by Laura Schafer and Sprinkles and Secrets by Laura Schroeder, as well as favorite series like The Cupcake Diaries and The Cupcake Club.
Many of the books featuring cooking–whether they’re in the picture book collection or the fiction collection– have a recipes in the back, so it could be a great way to share a new treat with families or friends. And you can always check out our cooking section in the non-fiction section at J 641.5. We have recipes and treats for all levels of reading, and all ages of eating!
In the meantime, check out our Cook up a Good Book! Newsletter:
